I started this WordPress site as a visual love letter to Penang—a small yet breathtaking island off the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia—and even though I was born and raised here, I still find myself surprised by something new around almost every corner, especially in George Town. Writing and curating photos for the site has also become my way of rediscovering Penang’s layered heritage and history—like the little-known fact that the Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion is one of only two such mansions outside China, that Cannon Street earned its name from cannons fired during an old riot, or that Dr. Sun Yat-sen delivered his first Penang speech at the Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Centre.

Through these stories and images, I hope to offer an informative, pictorial journey of Penang; and because I’ve loved drawing since I was young, photography feels like a natural extension of how I express what I see and feel—most of my shots are taken with compact cameras or a phone, then refined (and sometimes creatively “manipulated”) in Photoshop.

Thanks for stopping by, however brief your visit may be—please feel free to leave a comment, and if you’d like to use any of my photos or share feedback, just reach out at wcwk@outlook.com or use the simple form below.
