Founded and established by Dr. Sun Yat-sen in 1910, Kwong Wah Yit Poh (or Kwong Wah Daily) is one of the oldest Chinese language newspapers in the country and is predominantly read by the Chinese community in the northern region of Malaysia.

Today is the Wesak Day, a day when Buddhists in Malaysia celebrate Buddha’s birth, enlightenment and death. Normally, there will be Wesak Day procession in George Town as part of the celebration.

The mansion itself is apparently unique for its 5 architectural periods, that are reflected by the Anglo Indian Bungalow, Indian Chinese Terrace, Straits Eclectic Building, 1920’s Jack Roof Annex Block and the Indian Shophouses.
