Armenian Street Park: 2023 Chinese New Year Decorations

Decorations including lanterns and a statue of the Rabbit welcoming the Year of the Rabbit and Chinese New Year festivities at Armenian Street Park and its surrounding areas. This decorations are also to signify the beginning of Miao Hui (Penang Chinese New Year Celebration), which will last till 28 January 2023. Various streets within the heritage area of George Town will be decorated with lanterns too and there will be events along the one week period.

Penang Street Art (“Slide” by Kenji Chai and Ernest Zacharevic)

A recent mural titled Slide, which is a collaborative effort by Kenji Chai and Ernest Zacharevic. This mural can be found right at the junction of Buckingham Street, Campbell Street and Carnarvon Street (not far from the old Campbell Street market).

A View of Toh Aka Lane

Lorong Toh Aka (Toh Aka Lane) is located at the heart of the heritage zone in George Town and is an old and rather narrow street. The street was said to be the home of iron smiths back in the old days. Rows of pre-war heritage style townhouses line up the street and majority of these houses belong to the Cheah clan community.

Penang Street Art (New World Park Art Murals)

Art murals depicting the history of New World Park in George Town. Established in 1939, it was once a venue of entertainment and amusement park popular during the 1950s. Now it is mainly consists of a large open-air food court with hawker stalls which are popular with both tourists and locals, along with a few other restaurants.
