George Town Street View: Seck Chuan Lane
Seck Chuan Lane (or Lorong SeckChuan) is a small road that mainly links up Buckingham Street and Chulia Street. It also has a smaller lane that leads out to Carnarvon Street. The street was apparently named after a local by the name of Khoo Seck Chuan, who owned lands in George Town, Penang during the 19th century.
There is a steel rod art sculpture located along this street (the end near Chulia Street).
George Town Street View: CHINA STREET (Lebuh China)
China Street (or Lebuh China), is one of the main and oldest streets within the heritage area of George Town. The street was predominantly populated by Chinese settlers during the late 1700s and it runs from Jalan Masjid Kapitan Keling to Beach Street as well as crosses a few other streets in the area.
The Kuan Yin temple of Jalan Masjid Kapitan Keling (Pitt Street) can be seen facing this road directly.
George Town Park(ing) Day
On September 19, the Penang Institute with the Penang Island City Council (MBPP) as sponsor, is organizing the first Park(ing) Day in Malaysia at the World Heritage Site of George Town.
This Park(ing) Day event is created to temporarily converts street parking spaces into miniature parks, as part of an effort to raise awareness regarding public space creation and improvement in the urban environment. There are prizes to be won for participants who took part in the event. It was found that the first Park(ing) Day was created in San Francisco back in 2005, as a mean to create civic awareness on urban amenities.

George Town Street View: New Lane
New Lane (or Lorong Baru) is a small street that links up Macalister Road and Dato Kramat Road in George Town. At night, it transforms into a popular hawker center (although nowadays it’s more like a tourist-centric area) and the street is usually packed with stalls and vehicles are not allowed to enter the street from Macalister Road from 4pm to 12am.

Macalister Road (or Jalan Macalister) is a rather long road that stretches out from George Town (KOMTAR area) to the outer ring of the city center. The road was found to be named after after Colonel Norman Macalister, who was both the Governor of Penang and a close associate of Captain Francis Light during the 1800s period.
George Town Street View: Kimberley Street
Kimberley Street (Lebuh Kimberley) is an old street in George Town center that starts from Penang Road. The street is famous for its many hawker stalls, especially during the night. It was found to be named after John Wodehouse, the Earl of Kimberley, a British colonial secretary.
George Town Street View: Presgrave Street
Presgrave Street (or Lebuh Presgrave) is a street in George Town that runs through McNair Street and connects to C.Y Choy Road. Known as the ‘Third Street’ in the Prangin Canal area, the street also houses one of the many popular street food or hawker centers in George Town. The Kwong Wah Yit Poh Chinese newspaper office is also located here.
George Town Street View: Argus Lane
At the back of Farquhar Street‘s Church of Assumption lies Argus Lane (or Lorong Argus), a small street that used to house a small community of Eurasian in George Town back then. One of the old townhouses found here was reported to be named Argus House, the place where Penang’s first independent newspaper, ‘Pinang Argus’ was printed (back in the year 1867).
