The Komtar Tower, when lighted up at night, transforms into a dazzling beacon in George Town, Penang, with its cylindrical silhouette glowing in vibrant multicolored lights that illuminate the surrounding skyline.

Penang Road (Jalan Penang) is one of George Town’s oldest and liveliest streets, connecting colonial-era landmarks with modern spots like Komtar and Chowrasta Market. Known for its mix of heritage, street food, and nightlife—especially around Upper Penang Road—it remains a key hub for both locals and tourists.

Note: No celebrations are being allowed due to the Covid-19 pandemic and as a result, I have added fireworks to this night photo of Penang.

During the nights of Covid-19 pandemic, the lights of the Komtar Tower are turned on to reflect the “color” of the pandemic affecting the state.
