During the nights of Covid-19 pandemic, the lights of the Komtar Tower are turned on to reflect the “color” of the pandemic affecting the state.
The tower of Acheen Street Mosque comes into view as one walks along Cannon Street. The popular ‘A Boy Reaching Up’ mural of Ernest Zacharevic can also be spotted at the wall of the house on the right of the street.
At the height of over 230 meters, Komtar Tower is the tallest building in Penang and one of the tallest buildings in Malaysia.
This part of Penang Road which passes beside the KOMTAR complex is known for its array of camera shops (some very old ones) such as the one shown in the picture.
