A Random Scene at Town
George Town Street View: LOVE LANE

The origin of the name Love Lane is not exactly known. The most common theory is that rich Straits Chinese men who lived at the nearby Muntri Street had apparently kept their mistresses separately in Love Lane during the 19th century (similar to what is shown by the Love Lane’s steel wall art caricature). Due to this, the street was then known as Love Lane.
Now, however, Love Lane is host to mostly budget accommodations for backpackers in Penang as well as cafes and bars.
