Khoo Sian Ewe Road is a small road in George Town city center, which was named after Khoo Sian Ewe, a son of a Chinese Kapitan. During his time, Khoo Sian Ewe is a well known philanthropist and one of the largest property owners in Penang. Besides being knighted by the British Empire and being a member of the Straits Settlements Legislative Council, he also contributed in the establishment of several historical buildings on the island with one being the famous Majestic Theater, an old but historical cinema in Penang.

Contrary to being named a ‘lane’, Hutton Lane (Jalan Hutton) is actually one of the busy streets in George Town. It is named after James Hutton, a British who also happened to be one of the first doctors in Penang.

Connecting Transfer Road to Penang Road, Sri Bahari Road is a rather small road in George Town which had its origin traced back to the North Indians community in the old days and was named after a temple built by the community back then. Some of the road’s old heritage townhouses had recently undergone a restoration and renovation.

Named after Sir Andrew Clarke, the British Governor of the Straits Settlements in the late 1800s, Clarke Street is a small street in George Town that connects Argyll Road, Hutton Road and Dato Koyah Road.
