Hutton Lane Street View: “Leong Kim Tiew” House

Despite its signboard with the name, this old historical house located at Hutton Lane actually used to belong to the former Penang Chief Minister, Tun Dr. Lim Chong Eu. The house was passed down to Lim Chong Eu from his father, Dr Lim Chwee Leong. It was said that at one point the house was leased to a carpenter friend named Leong Kim Tiew who then created the signboard.

Western Road: The Penang Masonic Temple

An old and heritage building incorporating Art Deco design, the Penang Masonic Temple was established in the 1920s by The Royal Prince of Wales Lodge No. 1555, United Grand Lodge of England, and Lodge Scotia No. 1003, Grand Lodge of Scotland, for the purpose of a meeting place for its members.

Ku Din Ku Meh Mansion

Now known as “Segara Ninda“, Ku Din Ku Meh Mansion is an old and historical bungalow located at the junction where Penang Road meets Farquhar Street in George Town. The bungalow is an old heritage house built during the British colonial era in the late 19th century, with traditional Malay design style. It used to belong to Tengku Baharudin bin Tengku Meh, the governor and King of Satun, Thailand in the early 1900, who was also known as Ku Din Ku Meh. The bungalow now belongs to the descendants of Ku Din Ku Meh and the restored building now also provides a lodging service.
