Miniaturized hot air balloons decorating the archway of the Esplanade as part of the promotion for the upcoming Penang Hot Air Balloon Fiesta 2016 to be held on 9th and 10th February at Padang Polo. These colorful mini hot air balloons made of paper or cardboard were hand-painted by school children and they are lighted up during the nights.
The Moon Gate located near the Penang Botanic Gardens is an entrance archway remnant of a Chinese mansion built in the 19th century which now lies in ruins (source and more info: iGeorgetown Website). The archway now also serves as the meeting point of a popular hiking trail up to the Penang Hill.
