Established in 1881 by the Chinese merchants of Penang, the Penang Chinese Town Hall currently has its office building located along Pitt Street, George Town (next to the famous Kuan Yin Temple).
It was found that Chung Keng Quee was the single largest individual donor towards the founding of the town hall and was a prominent president serving from 1881 to 1883.
