Penang Hot Air Balloon Fiesta 2019

For this year, the annually held Penang Hot Air Balloon Fiesta will start from today (9 February) till tomorrow night (10 February). The venue of the event is the same as the previous year, which is Padang Polo, George Town. The event usually starts early in the morning and lasts till night time.

Penang Street Art (The Dragon)

A Chinese style dragon painted by a Penang-based artist named Zen Lim (Instagram @zenlim_penang_artist). This dragon mural titled ‘Enter the Dragon’ can be found at the side wall of a heritage shophouse located along Carnarvon Street, George Town.

Penang Street Art (Toh Aka Lane Sculpture)

A steel rod art sculpture depicting an Ironsmith at work, which also tells the origin of the Toh Aka Lane (Lorong Toh Aka) in George Town. Known locally in the old days as “Ironworks Street”, most of the people staying in this area were ironsmiths and the majority of them belonged to the Cheah clan.

Penang Street Art (The Praying Indian Lady)

An art work by artist Julia Volchkova can be found at an old overgrown wall along the alley of Lumut Lane, George Town. Improvising on the existing wall facade of nature and stone, this mural depicts an old Indian lady who seems to be praying under the overgrown tree’s shade.

Hostel 100 Cintra Street is an old 19th century pre-war mansion that used to have served as an inn in the old days and has since hosted various functions, including a departmental store, a museum and now a hostel. The blue-painted heritage building can be found at Cintra Street, George Town.
