Butterworth Street View: Dewan Dato Haji Ahmad Badawi

Located at Bagan Luar, Butterworth, the Dato Haji Ahmad Badawi Hall and Community Center building was built during the British colonial era and served as a recreation club building back during that time. It was later renamed in honor of the late father of former Malaysia’s Prime Minister, Dato Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

These art murals are created for the Penang International Container Art Festival (PICAF) and can be found at the Dataran Pemuda Merdeka of the MPSP Field in Butterworth.

Penang Street Art (PICAF Site 4: Balik Pulau)

Two art murals featured at the facade of a containers setup located amidst the paddy fields of Kampung Terang, Balik Pulau. The murals are for the Penang International Container Art Festival (PICAF).

Penang Street Art (PICAF Site 2: Karpal Singh Drive)

These container art works can be found just beside the McDonald’s restaurant at Karpal Singh Drive, Penang.

First mural:

A container art mural featuring the work of Julia Volchkova, who is no stranger to Penang’s street art scene. The mural depicts a little girl who built her city of dream.

Second mural:

A container art mural featuring the work of Kenji Chai, a local artist.

Cherry Blossoms in Penang

Known locally as Penang’s “sakura”, these cherry blossoms are Tecoma trees that produce flowers in white and pink colors. The flowers usually bloom during the dry season of the year, such as during February-April or in June-July period. These trees can be found at the Bayan Baru area in Bayan Lepas on the island side and Jalan Raja Uda area on the mainland side.
