1881 Chong Tian Cultural Hotel

The 1881 Chong Tian Cultural Hotel is a newly renovated pre-war building that is located along Jalan Pintal Tali (Rope Walk) in George Town. According to its official site, it is set to be the first Chinese heritage hotel in Malaysia and was also once a thriving hotel frequented by wealthy merchants and traders in the late 1800s.

George Town Street View: Hotel Penaga


Located right at the city center of George Town, Hotel Penaga is converted from restored heritage buildings which are originally a three rows of double storey terraced houses and shophouses, built in the late 1940s. At the side wall of the Clarke Terrace also lies a large art mural.

Leith Street: Cathay Hotel

Located along Leith Street, Cathay Hotel was built in the pre-1900 for a local Chinese businessman as a residential mansion and was later used by Japanese army in World War II as an administrative office. It was after the war that the building was converted into a hotel which stands till this day.
