One of the interesting highlights of Chinese New Year festival in Penang is the interior design and decoration of Queensbay Mall. The shopping mall has always created a visual spectacle in conjunction of every festive season. This year for Chinese New Year, it created a small ‘old Chinese town’ that includes facades of vintage shops and even small boats on a faux river.

Sungai Pinang (or simply translated as Pinang River) is a large river that flows from the western side of Penang island. The red Sungai Pinang steel bridge was completed in 2008 to replace the old one and easily stands out as a small landmark in the area. The Sungai Pinang fishing boat wharf is also located nearby the bridge.
