This old but iconic McDonald’s Restaurant at the Sunrise building in Gurney Drive will be closed down soon after serving the local population for many years. It used to be a very popular McDonald’s outlet in Penang and almost every Penang born adult would have visited this outlet at some point in their lives here.

Gurney Plaza Shopping Center

Gurney Plaza is a shopping mall located along the Gurney Drive promenade. It has two entrance, the main entrance is located along Gurney Drive, facing the sea while the other entrance is located along Kelawai Road. A few blocks from it lies another shopping center – the Gurney Paragon.

Penang Food: Pasembur

Pasembur is a type of Malaysian Indian salad consisting of shredded cucumber, potatoes, beancurd, turnip, bean sprouts, prawn fritters, spicy fried crab, fried octopus or other seafoods and served with a sweet and spicy nut sauce. Pasembur can be found popularly in Penang, mostly along Gurney Drive.
