Penang United Buddy Bears Art Exhibition

From August 31st till October 30th 2016, Penang will be hosting the 149 of the friendly buddy bears of the United Buddy Bears exhibition.

The United Buddy Bears is an international art exhibition that has been held in many countries around the world. The exhibition features more than 140 fiberglass bears in a hand-in-hand ‘peaceful’ circle that promotes tolerance, peace and understanding among the various cultures and different nations in the world. Each bear sculpture is painted by the respective nation’s artist.

This exhibition is being hosted at the open field of Esplanade, George Town.

Butterworth Street View: Dewan Dato Haji Ahmad Badawi

Passing by the Dewan Dato Haji Ahmad Badawi located in Bagan Luar, Butterworth, Penang. This building which faces a large open field is the community hall of the Seberang Perai Municipal Council. It was built during the British colonial era and served as a recreation club building back during that time. It was later renamed in honor of the late father of former Malaysia’s Prime Minister, Dato Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

Transformers Street Art @ The Esplanade

Together with Hasbro, the Penang state government has organized a Transformers street art exhibition at the Esplanade. The exhibition is held in conjunction with the ‘Visit Penang 2015’ and the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration period. The exhibition is open to the public for free from July till August.

Dato Kramat Road: Padang Brown

Padang Brown was named after David Brown, a wealthy businessman back during the colonial era and was also reportedly a noted philanthropist who donated to the development of Penang.

Jalan Sungai Nipah: A Scenic Countryside View

Jalan Sungai Nipah is a rural road in Balik Pulau that passes by vast fields of paddy and small villages in the western part of Penang.

Youth Park Art Sculpture

These rattan art sculptures resembling the shape of a tree can be found at the edge of the field of the Municipal Park (or Youth Park)

Youth Park Landscape

A popular recreational place for the locals to have a healthy stroll or jog, the large Penang Municipal Park (or Youth Park) is created back in the 1970s.

George Town Festival 2013 Taking Off

The opening ceremony of George Town Festival 2013 at Esplanade with a showcase of kites flying. Held annually to celebrate the UNESCO World Heritage status of the city, George Town Festival 2013 is a month long festival of arts, music and various cultural performance.
