Penang George Town Festival
The Penang George Town Festival that ended recently is a month-long celebration of arts and cultural performance which is held annually (normally during mid-year, July to August period). Every year, the event attracts thousands of visitors and many art performers from around the world, quickly becoming one of Asia’s must see events. The George Town Festival was launched in 2010 as a recognition of George Town’s designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Penang Street Art (The Alley Retro Girl)
At one of the small alleys in Ah Quee Street is this recent mural of a retro style girl painted on the back wall of old shophouses in George Town.
Penang United Buddy Bears Art Exhibition
From August 31st till October 30th 2016, Penang will be hosting the 149 of the friendly buddy bears of the United Buddy Bears exhibition.
The United Buddy Bears is an international art exhibition that has been held in many countries around the world. The exhibition features more than 140 fiberglass bears in a hand-in-hand ‘peaceful’ circle that promotes tolerance, peace and understanding among the various cultures and different nations in the world. Each bear sculpture is painted by the respective nation’s artist.
This exhibition is being hosted at the open field of Esplanade, George Town.
