Entopia by Penang Butterfly Farm

Entopia is the newly renovated, upgraded and expanded version of the Penang Butterfly Farm. After a year of major rework and upgrade, Entopia opened its door during the middle of this year. It maintains its free roaming butterflies concept while at the same time, includes other types of bugs and even reptiles, as well as establishing several new attraction and educational zones.

This small Japanese style garden is located nearby the Penang Botanic Gardens, as part of the extension of the gardens that also includes the The Bambusetum Garden and the Sunken Garden.

George Town Street View: Market Street

Market Street

As one of the streets that pass along the Little India zone in George Town, Market Street (or Lebuh Pasar) is named after a market that once stood in this area which is populated by the South Indian community. There are many Indian shops and restaurants located along this street and it is especially crowded during festive and holiday seasons.

Penang Durian Festival

Held annually or sometimes twice a year during the Durian season at Anjung Indah, this festival showcases the various types of durians from fruit orchards around Penang, mostly from Balik Pulau area. The forested hills of Balik Pulau area are perfect locations for durian trees plantation.

Famously regarded by many as best in the region, Penang’s Balik Pulau durians attract people from as far as Hong Kong and Singapore to try out these local fruits. Some of the award-winning durian species in Balik Pulau are named Ang Hae, Ang Bak, D16, D700 and of training course the famous “Musang King”. One high graded durian can even fetch as high as MYR 100.

Durians season usually falls in the middle of the year (around the month of May to July).
