Restored earlier this year, the Sunken Garden is located at a lower ground area which is just outside of the Botanic Gardens in Penang. Sunken Garden was originally conceived by the Botanic Gardens’ first Malaysian curator Cheang Kok Choy during his tenure but the garden was later abandoned for some 40 years before its restoration.

The Bambusetum which is located just outside the Penang Botanic Gardens is a landscaped garden which features various types of bamboo and a large bamboo house. A walkway leading into the garden and over small hills provides a scenic route for visitors to view the naturescape and the many bamboo trees.
