Penang Street Art (The Grandmother and the Granddaughter by Julia Volchkova)
The latest mural drawn by Julia Volchkova, a street artist who had also created a number of street art murals in Penang. This latest art work reveals a the relationship portraiture of a family, with a grandmother looking over her small granddaughter, and was inspired a real family that she met.
This large mural is painted on the side of a flat near the Batu Lanchang Market.

Loh Bak (or Lor Bak) is a popular Chinese dish served in most Chinese kopitiams and hawker center. Loh Bak refers to the fried and rolled marinated minced pork and is commonly ordered together with other type of items such as boiled octopus, prawn fritters and fried bean curd.
Penang Street Food: Tandoori Chicken and Naan Set
A typical set of Tandoori Chicken and Naan bread usually found in the many ‘mamak’ coffeeshops across Malaysia, including Penang too. The Naan bread can be eaten on its own but it is usually served together with the tender Tandoori Chicken, dhal, mint sauce and onions.

Kerabu Beehoon is actually an unique but vibrant-flavored Nyonya style dish made up of rice vermicelli (bee hoon) tossed with sambal belacan, calamansi juice, and lots of spice/herbs.

Usually a plate of chicken served in a brown gravy with some sides, Hainanese Chicken Chop is created by the Hainan people who migrated to Malaysia.

Laksa is a must try street food in Penang, and is one of the most popular local food here. Also known as Asam Laksa, it is simply a Nyonya (Peranakan) style of hot and sour noodles cooked in fish broth and vegetables.
Penang Street Food: Ah Leng Char Koay Teow
Located at Zoo Road in Ayer Itam, this main branch of Ah Leng Char Koay Teow can be found at a residential housing area and off the main roads. Ah Leng, the man itself, can usually be seen frying his Char Koay Teow during the evenings (the stall opens in the evening). There is another branch located at Dato Kramat Road, George Town which is usually manned by his children.

A plate of a typical Penang Wanton Noodles (or commonly called Wantan Mee here). Wanton noodles here can be served in both soup or dry style, and is usually accompanied with slides of char siu, vegetables and of course, the wantons.
