Rifle Range flats

The Rifle Range flats at Ayer Itam are one of the oldest residential flats in Penang. The name was derived from the past when the area was actually being used as a rifle range. Built under a low cost housing project with an area size of 450-500sqf per unit, the flats were reportedly completed in the 1970s.

Penang Linear Park: Lush Green Landscapes

Located at the residential area in York Road, away from the main roads Linear Park (or Taman Jajar) is a public park which had seen its better days but still somewhat retains a beautiful lush green landscape of old rain trees by the river.

The park can also be accessed from the Suffolk House via a red brick bridge.

Botanic Gardens: A Hidden Japanese Garden

This miniature Japanese Garden was originally created from an exchange programme between the Penang government and the Itabashi city of Japan in 1994. This mini Japanese Garden, used to represent a symbol of friendship between the two cities, was restored in recent years.
