Green Hall Street: Kaffa Espresso Bar

A newly established cafe at Green Hall Street, Kaffa Espresso Bar joins a myriad of such similar cafes which are opening all over George Town in recent years. Kaffa Espresso Bar provides a retro-like and cozy ambiance while serving nice food (such as Big Bites All-Day Long Breakfast Platter) and coffee. The cafe’s official website is http://www.mykaffa.com/ and the cafe opens 8am – 10pm from Monday to Sunday.

Note: Kaffa Espresso Bar is not to be confused with the Kaffa Kafe at Straits Quay or China Street.

Penang Street Art (A Minion Hydrant)

art115
A painting of a minion on a wall beside a fire hydrant along Ah Quee Street. Possessing no significant cultural or heritage value related to George Town, to some, this ‘art’ begs the question whether it is an art or rather a vandalism act.

Chulia Street: The Mugshot Cafe

The Mugshot Cafe is one of the many recent small cafes that have mushroomed all over George Town, taking advantage of its heritage status popularity. It serves its own homemade bagels (one of its main draw) which are sourced from the Rainforest bakery next door (both of which are owned by the same people). It is a popular place for both locals and foreigners to hang out and especially for breakfast. The cafe is located along Chulia Street and opens daily from 8am-9pm.
