George Town Street View: Lumut Lane

Lumut Lane (or Lorong Lumut) is a small street that connects both Acheen Street and Toh Aka Lane. It was said that the leaders of the Acheen community of traders, pilgrim brokers and writers had been living at Lumut Lane’s area since the 19th century in George Town.

Penang Isle: U.A.B Building

The U.A.B Building is an old historical building located at China Street Ghaut in George Town, Penang. The U.A.B Building was built in the 1930s, incorporating Art Deco architectural design style. The building was once occupied by the Indian Overseas Bank which was established in Penang in 1937 as the first overseas branch of the bank.

Penang Immigration Office Building

The Immigration Office Building of Penang is located towards the north end of Beach Street and beside the Betel Nut roundabout at King Edward’s Place in George Town.
The Income Tax office building is also located opposite the Immigration Office Building.

Leith Street: Cathay Hotel



Located along Leith Street, Cathay Hotel was built in the pre-1900 for a local Chinese businessman as a residential mansion and was later used by Japanese army in World War II as an administrative office. It was after the war that the building was converted into a hotel which stands till this day.
